DENVER – February 23, 2006 – Dr. Richard Schamp, an expert in geriatric care and Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (called PACE), has joined Altitude Edge Consultants. His expertise will allow Altitude Edge to expand its range of capabilities and services for providers of aging services, including operators of PACE, adult day health centers, retirement communities, assisted and independent living communities.

Dr. Schamp is an associate professor at Saint Louis University School of Medicine Department of Community and Family Medicine. He has been in this role since 1998. He is also an associate professor with Saint Louis University’s School of Medicine Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Geriatrics since 2001. In addition, Dr. Schamp is well versed in PACE, serving as medical director of Alexian Brothers Community Services, a PACE program in St. Louis. He is vice chair of the National PACE Association’s Primary Care Committee.

“Dr. Schamp helps Altitude Edge to reach a new level of service for managed care organizations, particularly PACE providers,” said David Reyes, co-founder of Altitude Edge Consultants.

In particular, Dr. Schamp will focus on three areas with Altitude Edge:

  • Educating primary care physicians about the role they fill within PACE organizations
  • Helping to incorporate quality medical management procedures in PACE and managed care organizations
  • Assisting organizations to understand and cope with Medicare Risk Adjustment changes.

Medicare is phasing in Risk Adjusted capitation rates through 2008, a change that will impact reimbursement for PACE and Medicare Advantage-Specialized Needs Plans.
