FAQs

Why is setting up a PACE program so difficult?

The PACE application is very technical and requires an understanding of many intricate details of operating a PACE organization on a day-to-day basis. Each community will have different needs as well, requiring a thorough examination of the local environment and conditions that will determine whether a PACE model can succeed. PACE can be challenging to organize initially because so few people truly understand the process from germination to full-blown implementation and day-to-day operational status.

How can Altitude Edge Consultants reduce the risk of opening a PACE program?

The typical PACE program will not achieve a return on investment for more than a year, and often up to two years. Precise planning, marketing, and implementation are essential. Altitude Edge can help organizations to jump-start many processes and avoid pitfalls that can negatively impact enrollment figures and quick return on the capital investment required. Furthermore, the cost risks associated with serving a frail senior population under a full-risk environment can present significant challenges for a new PACE organization. Altitude Edge can help to provide training and support to help organizations minimize this risk.

Who should consider a PACE program?

Organizations that typically succeed in setting up a PACE program are organizations with a strong sense of mission for their community’s health care needs. PACE programs are typically implemented by organizations that lead their local communities, in terms of innovations in health care and aging services.

What enrollment figures must a new PACE organization reach to break-even?

While each local community will have unique needs, typically an organization must reach between 85 to 100 enrollees to break even. Altitude Edge Consultants’ management team was involved in growing one PACE program’s enrollment to more than 1,000 participants, making the program one of the most successful PACE programs nationwide.
